The venue page prints two date ranges for the event. The listing reads September 29 to October 1. The page body reads September 30 to October 1, 2026. The venue calendar carries 09/30/26 to 10/01/26. Confirm the night count with the organiser before you block rooms.
September 27, 2026 is a Sunday. October 1 is a Thursday. A Sunday arrival and a Thursday departure covers four nights.
The Window Is Not Empty
Three events share the September 29 to October 1 window on the venue calendar. MAPP Benchmarking and Best Practices forecasts 650 attendees. ATD Core4 forecasts 1,000. OrgDev forecasts 1,000. The three come to 2,650 forecast attendees bidding for the same midweek rooms.
Do it Best Corp. Fall Market runs September 25 to September 28 with a forecast of 12,000 attendees. Those blocks release before the OrgDev nights.
hotelhaggle's group guide describes the shoulder-night shape. Shoulder nights, Sunday through Thursday, run 20 to 30 percent cheaper than peak nights. The guide reports group rates 15 to 40 percent below standard.
A Sunday-to-Thursday block sits inside that band. Those are the nights the hotel's own pricing already marks down, which is where the leverage sits.
Meetings Space
None of the sources behind this piece publishes a meeting-space rental, a food and beverage minimum or a setup charge for an Indianapolis property. Put all three in the request as open questions.
Ask for the breakout room to be named in the contract at no rental charge across the four nights. hotelhaggle's guide names the concessions to chase when the rate holds: complimentary breakfast, waived resort fees, free parking, suite upgrades and flexible cancellation terms. Attrition
Attrition is the room-night floor the group commits to fill. The blocks.travel guide names the clause that decides the bill. Read whether the contract measures the floor per night or cumulatively across the block.
The guide works an example. A three-night block of 100 rooms a night commits 300 room nights. An 80 percent floor sets the minimum at 240 room nights. A pickup of 210 leaves 30 room nights short. At a $189 group rate, the whole-block view bills $5,670.
The per-night view bills more. The same guide splits that pickup across the three nights. The peak night fills at 100 rooms and the two shoulder nights fill at 55 each. Each night carries its own 80-room floor. The two shoulder nights fall 25 rooms short each, and overage on the peak night offsets nothing. The exposure becomes 50 room nights, or $9,450.
Ask for cumulative measurement in writing. The guide names a rate-protection clause and a resell credit as the two terms that cut what the group owes.
Ask for the comp ratio in the same conversation. The guide reports a common ratio of one complimentary room night per 40 picked-up room nights, with 1 per 35 or 1 per 30 available on larger blocks and shoulder nights. Comps track actualized pickup and credit to the master account after checkout.
Parking
The venue parking page states that Denison Parking operates every Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium lot. Downtown Indianapolis holds more than 70,000 parking spaces. The page takes reservations and pre-payment online and publishes no group rate.
The parking ask therefore sits with the hotel. Ask for the block's parking inside the group rate or at a stated nightly figure. hotelhaggle's guide names free parking among the concessions worth pursuing when the rate holds.
Check the garage name on the offer. A downtown property can park guests in a lot it does not operate.
The Venue Numbers Behind the Block
The venue footer reads 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis, 4,700 of them connected to the Convention Center by skywalk, 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance and 15 minutes to Indianapolis International Airport. The venue hotels page states that more than half of downtown's rooms sit within blocks of the center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
The skywalk page states that facility and skywalk hours depend on the event, with a rule of thumb of an 11 p.m. lock-down and a 6 a.m. reopening. Check the hours for the OrgDev dates before you publish the walkable route to attendees.
Fix the All-In Number Before You Sign
blocks.travel works a $189 group rate through a 15 percent occupancy tax and a $25 resort fee to $242.35 all in. That runs roughly 28 percent above the quoted rate.
Request the all-in nightly figure for the OrgDev block. Confirm which taxes fall on the room rate and which fall on the fee.
