The numbers the venue publishes
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers National Conference runs Wednesday 28 October to Saturday 31 October 2026 at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 South Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis. The venue forecasts 15,000 attendees.
The organizer publishes its own attendance line on the registration site: the Indiana Convention Center will welcome nearly 10,000 students, professionals, academics, industry leaders and innovators. Two publishers, two figures. Put both in front of whoever signs your contract and ask which figure the property is holding inventory against.
The venue publishes its supply numbers. Indianapolis holds 7,100 downtown hotel rooms. Of those, 4,700 connect to the Convention Center by skywalk. More than half of the downtown total sits within blocks of the building. Two hundred downtown restaurants sit within walking distance, and the airport sits 15 minutes out.
The block ladder
The organizer publishes an official room block with a negotiated rate at each property. Nine hotels carry a rate for the convention dates, and the ladder runs from 189 dollars to 269 dollars.
The Westin Hotel Indianapolis, Courtyard Indianapolis Downtown and Omni Severin Hotel sit at 189 dollars. Fairfield Indianapolis Downtown is 194 dollars. SpringHill Suites Indianapolis Downtown is 214 dollars. Conrad Indianapolis is 249 dollars. Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, Hyatt Regency Indianapolis and JW Marriott Indianapolis sit at 269 dollars.
Set the walk-away at the block rate for the tier your group needs. The block already publishes 189 dollars at three properties, so an offer above 189 dollars for a comparable room type sits above a rate the same hotels have published for this convention.
Four nights on the calendar
A Wednesday arrival and a Saturday departure is three nights: 28, 29 and 30 October. A fourth night needs a Tuesday 27 October arrival.
Two venue entries frame that Tuesday. The State Board of Law Admission Ceremony occupies the building on Monday 26 October with a forecast of 1,800 people. The National FFA Convention and Expo ran 21 to 24 October with a venue forecast of 70,000 attendees. Price the Tuesday night first.
The dates that set leverage
Bulk registration commitments close on 1 October at 5 p.m. Eastern. Housing closes on 14 October. Between those two dates you hold a delegate count and an open block, and that stretch is the window for putting a committed number in front of a property.
The name change deadline passed on 15 September. The organizer lists Hotel Direct from 21 October.
Rooms inside the block are available first-come, first-served and may sell out before the housing deadline. A committed count moves a property sooner than the deadline does.
Ask for the skywalk room
4,700 rooms connect to the building. The venue states that facility and skywalk hours are event-dependent, with a rule of thumb of lock-down at approximately 11 p.m. and re-opening at approximately 6 a.m. A connected room puts your delegates inside that window at both ends of the day. Ask for the connection in writing on the confirmation.
The Saturday checkout
A late checkout is a time ask. The convention centre calendar lists no event starting on 31 October, and the SHPE convention itself closes that day. Lucas Oil Stadium next door lists The R&B Tour Starring USHER and Chris Brown for 31 October at 8:00 p.m. The next convention-centre entry is the National Science Teaching Association fall convention on 4 November. Ask for the hour as a contract term.
