The 2027 dates the Academy publishes
The American Academy of Dermatology holds its 2027 Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California from March 19 to March 23, 2027. The Academy's exhibitor prospectus places it at Moscone Center, 747 Howard Street. Registration opens Nov. 18, 2026 at 12 p.m. noon CT for physician members, life members and honorary members. Every remaining category can register from Nov. 24, 2026 at 12 p.m. noon CT.
Early-bird registration ends Feb. 17, 2027 at 12 p.m. noon CT, and standard fees run from that moment to the end of the meeting. Housing is a separate desk inside the same system, and the Academy publishes the hotel terms on its policies page.
Point one: one date closes the booking window and the $100 exit
The deadline to book housing through the Academy is Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2027. The $100 per reservation hotel cancellation fee runs from the moment of booking to Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2027 at 12 p.m. noon CT. The Academy states the fee applies regardless of the reason for cancellation and regardless of the method used.
A Feb. 24 cancellation costs $100. A cancellation the following week costs one night of room and sales tax.
Point two: four days with no changes at all
Between Thursday, Feb. 25, 2027 and Sunday, Feb. 28, 2027 the Academy transmits reservations to the hotels. No changes and no cancellations to hotel reservations are accepted in that window.
A group that wants a reservation moved settles it before noon CT on Feb. 24, or waits until the hotels take over on Monday, March 1, 2027.
Point three: the deposit posts two days after the deadline
Reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card, and the card expiration date must be March 2027 or later. From Friday, Feb. 26, 2027 the card on file is charged a one-night room and current sales tax deposit. The Academy states the deposit is non-refundable.
The deposit lands two days after the last day of the $100 exit.
Point four: a property switch forfeits the deposit
The Academy's note reads: "Switching hotels after Thursday, Feb. 25, 2027, will result in the loss of the one (1) night room and current sales tax deposit." From Monday, March 1, 2027 through the check-in date, arrival and departure changes run directly with the hotel and are subject to the hotel's availability and policies.
Ask the housing desk in writing whether the block rate follows a group to a second property. The page publishes no answer.
Point five: the meeting clock is a different calendar
Registration cancellations run to aad@maritz.com. A notice received before 12 p.m. noon CT on Tuesday, March 16, 2027 is refunded minus a $100 cancellation fee. Medical Student and Guest registrants pay $25. Notices received after that deadline receive no refund, and the Academy states no exceptions are made.
Name changes are not allowed, and registration is non-transferable. Session purchases become non-refundable from Feb. 17, 2027 at 12 p.m. noon CT, and a category change carries a $100 processing fee.
The two charges that bill one night
Failure to check in on the scheduled arrival date produces a no-show fee of one night's room and current sales tax, and the reservation is cancelled. The Academy tells a delayed traveller to notify the hotel directly to avoid the fee.
An early departure can also draw a fee. The Academy publishes the remedy in the same paragraph: confirm the departure date with the hotel before or during check-in. Ask the property to waive the early-departure charge at that point.
Group rooms run through a named partner
The Academy names Maritz Global Events as its registration and housing partner, and states that group room packages are managed by FHT Global in partnership with Maritz. The site also carries a fraud warning about companies posing as the official registration and housing provider for the 2027 meeting, and directs buyers to place no reservation and give no card details anywhere except that partner.
What the Academy leaves unpublished
No property list, no room type, no per-night rate and no room count appears for the 2027 meeting on the pages read. Housing booking happens inside the registration flow, and no member or nonmember room rate sits beside the registration fees.
A group brings its own benchmark to the housing desk, and that gap is the first item to name in writing.
Where the buyer's own tools stand
hotelhaggle's help centre tells buyers to research the average rate first and aim for 20 to 40 percent below it, and to keep dates flexible because mid-week and shoulder-season stays draw more willing sellers. It sends each request to 50 or more hotels, reports a 24 to 72 hour response window, charges no markup and leaves the rate payable directly to the property. Group rates start at 10 or more rooms per night, and some properties discount from as few as 5 rooms depending on season and availability.
One published limit applies to a California meeting. The help centre reads: "hotelhaggle operates in the United States, excluding CA, FL, HI, IA, and WA due to Seller of Travel registration requirements." The terms page names four states, excluding Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington. Confirm the position for a California stay before submitting a request.
Put the five dates above in the housing request, and settle the deposit and the departure term in writing before Feb. 24.
