The day and the market behind it
Design + Build Day runs 5 January 2027 at Dallas Market Center, 2100 Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75207. It opens Lightovation, the Dallas International Lighting Show, which runs 6 to 9 January 2027. Dallas Total Home and Gift Market runs 6 to 12 January alongside it.
The day is built for interior designers and trade professionals: designer-led seminars, curated showroom visits and a closing networking reception. Admission is trade only. Designers, architects, builders, specifiers and purchasing companies qualify, and every person on the campus must wear a DMC badge.
The block is live, and it answers with rates
Connections Housing is the only housing vendor DMC names. Its market list carries a January Lightovation block for 6 to 9 January 2027, and the card books through the Passkey page “2027 January Lightovation: Dallas International Lighting Show”. That page reads “Now accepting reservations”, offers no deposit and no contract, and lists guaranteed lowest rates among its booking benefits. A request of 10 rooms or more goes to DMCTravel@connectionshousing.com.
Read on 23 October 2026, the block's own hotel list reports 18 entries with starting rates from $109 to $294. Seventeen entries carry a hotel name and a starting rate. The eighteenth is an untitled Additional Hotel Choices card at 0.20 miles.

The night you need sits outside the block
The block window begins 6 January. Design + Build Day is 5 January. A guest on campus for the 10 a.m. tour needs the night of 4 January, and a guest who stays for the closing reception needs the nights of 4 and 5 January.
Ask Connections Housing in writing whether the block takes a 4 or a 5 January check-in. Ask the property for the same two nights on a direct rate. The block covers the market nights, and the opening night is the one to negotiate.
The Luminary rebate changes the arithmetic
The Luminary program pays a hotel rebate for consecutive shows. The published ladder runs $50 a night at the second consecutive show attended, $75 a night at each subsequent consecutive show through the fifth, and $100 a night at Zenith, the seventh consecutive show. The rebate covers up to three nights of one stay, one room per qualified business location.
Two conditions decide it. The guest must stay in a Dallas Market Center hotel block, and the request goes in with the hotel folio attached after the show. A check is mailed for the rebate level multiplied by nights stayed.
Run it through. A $139 night at Tru by Hilton returns $89 at the first level, $64 at levels two through five, and $39 at Zenith. A $243 night at Sheraton Suites returns $193, $168 or $143 on the same three levels. A direct booking at either property pays none of it, so a direct rate has to clear $50 to $100 a night to match the block.
Participation is automatic at the second consecutive show and is earned by the business location. A missed show drops the status, and two shows in a row earn it back.
The January page links a June slug
The January Lightovation market page carries two travel links: the Connections Housing market list, and connectionstravel.app/Jun27LTG, whose slug reads as the June 2027 iteration of the same show. The January block sits on the Connections Housing portal under the Passkey code 2027JanLTG. A guest who follows the June link lands on a route that does not name January.
DMC also publishes a poaching notice. Connections Housing is the only approved vendor. Any other company offering rooms is unaffiliated, and the notice asks for a report to 214.744.7444, option 2.
Parking is free, and the valet line needs a careful read
Parking across the campus is free, including handicapped spaces. Shuttles run to select hotels and to campus lots, and DMC says the times vary by market.
Three valet programs sit on the transportation page. At World Trade Center front, valet runs Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on daily and 1st Monday and Tuesday markets, at $8, and it is complimentary for interior designers and independent decorators. At IHDC front, the Dallas Apparel and Accessories Market valet runs $10 for buyers and $20 for all others. For the Dallas Total Home and Gift Market, the page states that valet is not available during January and June markets and that the IHDC front lot is Buyer Only for those months.
Design + Build Day falls on a Tuesday inside January. The published $8 line covers daily and 1st Monday and Tuesday markets, so ask the campus for the 5 January valet rate. Campus parking costs nothing either way, and the offset on a suburban rate is the drive and the shuttle.
Testing the block against a direct rate
Hilton returned a 403 to an automated read and an error page in the browser. Marriott returned a 403. No brand publishes a direct rate for 5 January 2027 that this desk could read, so none is quoted here.
The test is a two-line sum. Take the direct rate for the property you want. Take the block starting rate for the same property and subtract the Luminary rebate at your level. Parking adds zero on both sides. The block wins where the spread sits under the rebate, and the rebate attaches to a folio that shows a Dallas Market Center block.
