The event terms first

Aloha Spirit runs the Portland Showdown 2027 for DI and DII teams on January 9 and 10 in Halls B-C at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. The venue marks the event Registration Required and lists one number: 800.840.4772. The same two days carry the Build, Remodel & Landscape Show in Hall A, which shares the 800-space garage.

Three designations, one question

Varsity Stay Smart publishes three housing designations, and the designation decides what a program can negotiate.

Housing Required covers mostly Worlds-bid or city-wide events, where hotels require attrition on blocks in exchange for hosting the event.

Housing Offered covers some one-day events and gives teams a booking link at wholesale prices.

Housing Rewards covers events where programs may book premium properties through the housing partner. Those blocks carry team-friendly terms and rewards for booking through partner hotels.

Ask the event director, in writing, which designation applies to Portland. The answer decides whether a program may book outside the partner block.

The published terms that do not move

Block schedules appear at least four weeks before each two-day event, which lets a team book only the nights it needs. Stay Smart sets no minimum night stay, though a property may set its own.

Teams inside 75 miles are marked local and may commute. Prep and Novice teams inside 150 miles are not required to book accommodations. The housing partner is Team Travel Source, on 502-354-9103.

Where the parking money goes

The convention center garage holds 800 spaces and charges $15 for up to 18 hours, with no in-and-out privileges. Event entry runs $15 to $25. The garage opens at 6 a.m., prohibits overnight parking, and sells space first-come, first-served. The booths take cards only. P1 clearance is 7 feet and P2 is 9 feet, and 566 metered spaces sit within three blocks.

The venue collects that fee at its own booth, so no hotel can waive it. The charge a guest can move is the property's self-park or valet rate. Ask for that figure inside the room rate before signing, or for the nightly amount by name.

Three entries for a weekend

A Friday arrival with a Sunday checkout enters the garage three times: on arrival, on the Saturday, and on the way out. At the published band that is $45 to $75 across the stay.

Two public audiences share those spaces on the Saturday and the Sunday, because both halls run. A rate that includes parking can be worth $45 to $75 on this weekend.

The request, in order

Put six items in the request: the designation the event carries, in writing; the Saturday January 9 rate held through the block cut-off; self-park or valet inside the rate, or the nightly figure by name and amount; the cancellation date and any deposit date; check-in and checkout hours; and every mandatory fee by name and amount.

Ten rooms or more goes in as one group request, and hotels compete on group terms. A smaller party names a price and hotels respond within 24 to 72 hours, with the offer reaching 50 or more properties. Oregon is outside the four states where the brand cannot take a request: Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington.
