A three-day show across two listings
Functional Fabric Fair powered by Performance Days runs in Portland in October 2026 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The venue calendar prints October 27 to 28 in Pre-Function Lobby D. The organiser and its housing site both print October 26 to 28.
The organiser's Portland page prints the hours. Monday October 26 is day zero, the OIA Catalyst Conference, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Tuesday October 27 runs 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Wednesday October 28 runs 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The promise the organiser prints for early bookers
The Hotel and Travel page carries a Rate Assurance block. It states that show management has worked to ensure its rates are the lowest over the Functional Fabric Fair dates and are only available to attendees and exhibitors who book through the official housing company. The next line repeats it: rooms are contracted by the show at special rates in order to deliver the lowest rates available.
The same page states that official Functional Fabric Fair hotels will not honor direct reservations. It publishes three terms on the buyer side: Connections Housing will not charge an advance deposit, no contract is required for exhibitor or group bookings, and reservation acknowledgements are emailed within seconds of confirmation.
The deadline that has already gone
The Reservation Deadline is Oct 1, 2026. That is 17 days behind us. The page still sells the block in the present tense and still routes every link to Connections Housing.
The housing desk's own room-block page describes what the deadline does to the channel. After Thursday October 1 the booking system shuts down to transfer reservation data to the hotel until Monday October 5. After that date the Connections Housing team connects the organiser with the hotel contact, and changes or cancellations go to the hotel directly.
That schedule sits against the no-direct-reservations line. Ask the housing desk which rule applies to a reservation made today, and keep the answer in writing.
The terms the housing desk publishes
The room-block page asks for a rooming list by Wednesday September 16, 2026 and assigns requests on a first-come basis. It asks for cancellations 72 hours before scheduled arrival to avoid a penalty of one night's room and tax, and applies the same charge to a no-show. It asks for a credit card as a guarantee, with an expiry date of November 2026 or later.
The group route has its own form. A block request covers 10 or more rooms, and the page states that requests are reviewed and that restrictions may apply.
The badge ladder sets the room budget
Four badges are published. Standard Attendee is free and covers the exhibit hall and expert talks on October 27 and 28. Premium Access is 100 dollars and adds early floor access, a 25 dollar food and beverage voucher and guided tours. Conference is 300 dollars and adds day zero on October 26 with breakfast and lunch. Conference plus Full Engagement is 400 dollars and adds VIP lounge access.
Two badges carry an increase line: 400 dollars starting 10/12 for Conference, and 500 dollars for Conference plus Full Engagement. October 12 is six days behind us and the page still displays 300 and 400. Ask which figure applies before you set a budget.
The badge also sets the night count. A free standard badge needs the night of October 26 and the night of October 27, with departure on October 28 or a third night. A Conference badge adds Sunday October 25, because day zero opens at 8:00 AM on Monday.
One phone number and a report address
The Hotel and Travel page prints 702-476-6976 for housing. It also prints functionalfabricfair@connectionshousing.com for reporting a company that claims an affiliation it does not have.
The Buyer Beware block on the housing site names the risk in plain terms. Unauthorized companies contact attendees and advertise cheaper rates. Some past attendees could not recover money spent on rooms that did not exist. Send any approach to that address and keep the written reply.
The parking line at the venue
The venue garage holds 800 spaces. The standard daily rate is 15 dollars for up to 18 hours, with no in and out privileges. A dynamic rate of 15 to 25 dollars is charged at garage entry during events. The garage generally opens at 6:00 AM, availability is first come, and overnight parking is prohibited.
Two show days at the event band cost 30 to 50 dollars in parking. There are 566 metered spaces within three blocks. Put the parking figure into the room request.
The asks
Ask for the show rate in writing for the two or three nights your badge needs. Ask for the cancellation deadline before arrival, in writing. Ask for parking inside the rate. Ask for a bag hold through 5:00 PM on October 28, so a departure morning does not buy a third night.
Then price the room against the badge. A free standard badge leaves the room as the whole cost. A 400 dollar Conference badge adds a night at the front, so the room line grows with the badge.
The walk-away
Set a ceiling before the first call. The block promised the lowest rate over the show dates, so any quote above that promise needs the comparison in writing before you accept it. hotelhaggle.org takes a name-your-price request, free to submit, with no obligation to book. grouprooms.org puts a request for 10 or more rooms in front of 50+ hotels.
