The Indiana High School Athletic Association publishes the 2026-27 boys swimming and diving calendar on its sport page. First practice is Nov. 9. First contest is Nov. 23. Sectionals fall on Feb. 18 and Feb. 20. Diving regionals fall on Feb. 23. The state finals run Feb. 26 and Feb. 27.
Feb. 26, 2027 is a Friday. Feb. 27 is a Saturday. The meet runs at the IU Natatorium, 901 West New York Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202, on the IU Indianapolis campus.
Carry the room count into the call
Visit Indy publishes the downtown supply at more than 9,400 hotel rooms, with 5,200 connected to the Indiana Convention Center. Its connected-hotel page counts 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms in the convention package.
The Indiana Convention Center publishes a second count. Its attendee hotels page reports 7,100-plus hotel rooms downtown and more than half of them within blocks of the Center and Lucas Oil Stadium. The Center's own figure block lists 4,700 rooms connected by skywalk. Two publishers carry four figures. Put both in your notes before you counter an offer.
The JW Marriott Indianapolis carries 1,005 rooms and anchors Marriott IndyPlace, five interconnected Marriott brand hotels holding 2,276 rooms.
Three earlier weekends fill the same venue
The Natatorium events calendar lists four bookings in February 2027. The Jaguar Aquatics Winter Invitational runs Feb. 5 to 7. The IHSAA girls championships run Feb. 12 and 13. The Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships run Feb. 17 to 20. The IHSAA boys championships close the month on Feb. 26 and 27.
The boys finals close three weeks after the first of those bookings. All four run in the same venue and the same warm-up pool. The venue reports a seating capacity of 4,700, more than 100,000 competitive swimmers and fans a year, and a $20 million renovation. The calendar carries one note: events are subject to change, updated 9/2/2026.
Ask for four terms before the rate
Put four terms in writing before you compare nightly rates. The rate for Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 as one block. The cancellation deadline, with the gap between the flexible plan and the non-refundable plan. The rooming-list deadline and the charge for a name change. The release date for unbooked rooms in the block.
The field settles late. Sectionals finish on Feb. 20. Diving regionals finish on Feb. 23, three days before the Friday preliminaries. A school that places a hold in the fall signs it before the qualifying field is known, so the cut-off date on that hold matters more than the nightly rate.
Run the quote against the market
One request through hotelhaggle goes to 50 or more hotels in the destination. Submission is free. The platform states responses arrive inside 24 to 72 hours. Hotels pay the platform a commission when a booking closes, and you pay the property directly.
Group rates start at 10 rooms per night at most properties, and some properties discount from five rooms. Ask each property what room count moves its rate and what it adds at that count.
The platform publishes its own band of 15 to 40 percent off published rates. That band is the platform's own figure. No source on this row publishes a nightly rate for Feb. 26-27, 2027.
Price the concessions with the rate
The platform lists six levers for group rates. The concession list is one of them: complimentary breakfast, waived resort fees, free parking, suite upgrades and flexible cancellation terms. The walk-away term is another. An offer can be declined at no cost, and a property that wants the booking can return with a better one.
Price the weekend against the whole offer. Breakfast for a team of twenty, a waived parking charge and a later cancellation date all move the real cost of the two nights.
Price the Thursday night on its own line
The platform states that shoulder nights, Sunday through Thursday, carry a 20 to 30 percent discount against peak nights. Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 are a Friday and a Saturday. Both finals nights price as peak nights.
Ask for the Thursday, Feb. 25 rate as its own line and compare it with the Friday rate. A school that travels the night before the preliminaries needs that fourth night priced before it signs.
Fix the request early
The IHSAA has published the 2026-27 calendar. The venue has published its February block with a Sept. 2, 2026 stamp. Both dates are on the record now, so the request can go out months ahead of arrival and the quote can be tested against a known supply.
Send one request with a Feb. 26 check-in and a Feb. 28 check-out. Hold the Friday first, then decide on Saturday. Ask the property for the route from its door to 901 West New York Street, and the parking arrangement for a team bus and for family cars. The venue parking page places campus parking under IU Indianapolis Parking and Transportation Services, names the sports garage as the most convenient option, and sells a monthly permit at $35 at the Pro Shop desk inside the Natatorium.
