The meeting, and what the association publishes

The Oregon Foot and Ankle Conference runs October 22 to 24, 2026 in Oregon Ballroom 203-204 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Portland. The Oregon Podiatric Medical Association runs the meeting and requires registration. The contact number on the association's pages is 503-662-9220.

OPMA publishes a registration ladder, a room block, a group code, two cutoff dates and a refund policy. Each figure is a term to carry into a conversation with a hotel.

The registration ladder, as printed

OPMA member: free if registered by August 1, 2026, and 49 dollars after that date. APMA member: 499 dollars by August 1, and 549 dollars after. Non-APMA member: 1,199 dollars by August 1, and 1,249 dollars after. Allied health professional: 499 dollars by August 1, and 549 dollars after. APMA resident member and student: free in both columns.

The program carries 25 CECH across three days. Thursday October 22 runs 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM for 9.5 CECH. Friday October 23 runs 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM for 9.5 CECH. Saturday October 24 runs 7:00 AM to 1:45 PM for 6 CECH.

Three APMA members who registered after August 1 pay 1,647 dollars in registration. That is 549 multiplied by three, on the published ladder. For a practice that missed the August 1 date, registration is the larger published line of the trip.

The room block and the one date it carries

OPMA holds rooms at the Hyatt Regency Portland, 375 NE Holladay Street, Portland, OR 97232. The association describes the property as positioned steps from the Oregon Convention Center. The block rate is 139 dollars per night plus tax. Reserve on 971-222-1234 with group code G-OPMA, or through the group booking link on the hotel page.

The page prints one cutoff: September 30, 2026. That date is 18 days behind us. The page states no end date for the block, no night range and no tax rate. A direct page request to the Hyatt group booking link returned HTTP 403 on October 18, so the rate could not be confirmed live.

Three nights, October 21 through 24, at 139 dollars is 417 dollars plus tax. That is the published rate multiplied by the nights the schedule needs. Arrival on Wednesday October 21 puts you in the room before a 7:00 AM Thursday start.

What the refund policy gives you

OPMA publishes a Registration Refund, Cancellation, and Activity Modification Policy. Written cancellation to info@orpma.org was due October 1, 2026. A 50 dollar administrative fee applies to any cancellation, and refunds are issued net of that fee within 30 days. No refund is issued after the deadline, and no-shows get none.

October 1 is 17 days behind us, so the registration money is spent. The policy also states that OPMA is not responsible for costs incurred by registrants, including travel and lodging, and that registrants are encouraged to book refundable arrangements. That sentence is the term to use. The association declined to carry your room risk, so the room risk sits in the hotel contract.

Two dates one day apart

September 30 and October 1 fell on a Wednesday and a Thursday. A buyer who booked the room on September 30 and cancelled the registration on October 1 held a hotel commitment for a meeting they had left. The association publishes a refund path on its own side and publishes nothing on the hotel side. Ask the property what it does with the room when a registration is cancelled inside its own cutoff window.

The building on those nights

The venue calendar lists seven events in October 2026. Portland National College Fair runs October 18 to 19 in Hall D. F27 North America Sales Meeting runs October 19 to 22 in Portland Ballroom 252-253-254-255. WaterSmart Innovations runs October 20 to 22 in Halls A-A1. OPMA occupies Oregon Ballroom 203-204 from October 22 to 24.

On the night of October 21 the building holds F27 and WaterSmart on their closing day. Two other groups are mid-run in the same building on your arrival night. The calendar is public, and it is the source for that compression argument.

The asks, in order

First, ask for the G-OPMA rate in writing for the three nights. The association printed the figure and the cutoff has passed, so the question is whether the property still holds inventory at that number.

Second, ask for parking in the rate or at a fixed price in writing. The venue garage holds 800 spaces at 15 dollars for up to 18 hours, with a dynamic event rate of 15 to 25 dollars charged at entry. Overnight parking is prohibited, so the garage does not hold a car across the night. There are 566 metered spaces within three blocks.

Third, ask for a 2:00 PM Saturday checkout or a guaranteed bag hold. The Saturday session ends at 1:45 PM.

Fourth, ask for free cancellation to 72 hours before arrival, in writing. The association published that shape of term on its own registration and declined to cover lodging.

The walk-away

Set the ceiling before the call. Three nights at the published 139 dollars is 417 dollars plus tax, and a quote above that number is a counter to reject while the block inventory is still open.

Load the parking charge into the comparison, so a 145 dollar room with a 15 dollar daily garage charge prices as a 160 dollar room.

For a practice booking several rooms, send one request. grouprooms.org puts a request for 10 or more rooms in front of 50+ hotels with a published response window of 24 to 72 hours. hotelhaggle.org takes a name-your-price offer, free to submit, with no obligation to book.
