One seat, two prices

The Oregon Business Plan Leadership Summit publishes two prices for one general audience seat. Online registration costs $375 per person. Onsite registration costs $450 per person. The gap is $75, which is 20 percent of the online price.

The online price closes at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2026. Onsite registration opens at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2026, in the Portland Ballroom Lobby. The summit runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Portland Ballroom at the Oregon Convention Center. A reception follows from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the D and E meeting room foyer.

Why 20 percent is the number to open with

The organiser set that gap itself, for one seat on one day. A published 20 percent spread between the advance price and the door price states what this event charges for arriving late. Use that figure as the opening ask on the room.

Ask the property for 20 percent off the flexible rate for the night of Sunday, December 6. Ask for the cancellation date, the total with tax, and the checkout time in the same reply. Ask for all three in writing before you pay a deposit.

The Sunday night is the one that matters

The plenary opens at 8:30 a.m. on a Monday. Onsite registration opens at 7:30 a.m. The venue garage opens at 6:00 a.m. daily and holds 800 spaces. Entry carries a dynamic rate of $15 to $25 during events, and up to 18 hours costs $15 with no in and out privileges. Overnight parking is prohibited.

That rule sets the stay. A car cannot sit in the venue garage overnight. A guest arriving from outside Portland parks at a hotel and walks, or drives in on the morning of the event and accepts a 6:00 a.m. garage opening and the risk of a full garage. The Oregon Convention Center sits eight miles from Portland International Airport and directly on the MAX Light Rail, the Portland Streetcar and local bus routes.

The convention center is a cashless venue.

The terms the organiser already publishes

The organiser writes its ticket terms down, and the room should meet that standard. A substitute participant may attend in place of a registered guest. Refunds are issued only if the event is cancelled, and a cancelled event brings a full refund. Payments appear on a statement as FORGOOD OBC LEADSUMMIT.

Put the same three terms to the hotel. Name the substitution rule. Name the refund trigger. Name the date at which the money is committed.

The other gaps on the same ladder

General audience is one tier. Public sector and nonprofit registration costs $275 online and $450 onsite, and the tier covers local city and county elected officials. That gap is $175, or 63.6 percent. Students pay $75 online or onsite with a valid full-time student ID. Press admission is complimentary. Volunteers receive complimentary admission when not working a shift.

Statewide elected officials receive one complimentary admission per office. The list covers the Governor, State Senator, State Representative, State Treasurer, Secretary of State, State Labor Commissioner, State Attorney General, US Senator and Member of US Congress. The page also lists the city and county offices the tier excludes: mayor, county chair, county judge, county commissioner, city commissioner, city councilor, city manager and school district board member.

The Equitable Access program offers a limited number of registrations at $125, and the interest form closes on Friday, October 30, 2026. The $125 rate against the $375 online rate saves $250, or 66.7 percent.

Four general tickets bought online cost $1,500. The same four at the door cost $1,800. A group of four carries $300 of ticket saving into the negotiation.

What the hotel partner publishes

The summit page names the Hyatt Regency as its hotel partner. The link carries a group booking route under the code G-OBCS. The page publishes no rate, no night minimum and no cutoff date. A direct request to that group route returns an access error, so no rate can be read from here.

No page on this row publishes a per night room rate for December 6. Ask the property for the rate in writing and hold the 20 percent gap against the answer.

Five things to settle before you commit

One: the rate for Sunday, December 6. Two: the total after tax. Three: the cancellation date and the penalty after it. Four: the checkout time on Monday, because you will be in a ballroom at 8:30 a.m. Five: whether the property will hold luggage past checkout.

Read the date off the organiser page before you book anything. The venue page for this event runs its description in the past tense and reads as a recap of a prior year. The organiser page names Monday, December 7, 2026 and an 8:30 a.m. start.

Register online before noon on December 4. That $75 is the one number in this piece you can fix without a conversation.
