The weekend the schedule sets
The Health and Fitness Expo runs at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Hall C, on Thursday 18 March from 12 to 7 p.m. and Friday 19 March from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The 5K starts at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday 20 March at Constitution Avenue NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The half marathon starts at 8 a.m. at Constitution Avenue and 14th Street NW. A Friday arrival and a Sunday departure covers the two nights that carry the race. The expo runs Thursday and Friday, so a Thursday arrival adds a third night.

Deadlines run 1 to 22 February
Eighteen of the 26 cards publish a reservation date. The earliest is 1 February at The Quincy Hotel DC, which starts at 245 dollars. The latest is 22 February at Sheraton Pentagon City.
Eight cards publish a rate and no date: Hyatt Place Washington DC / US Capitol at 219 dollars, Hyatt House Washington DC / Downtown / Convention Center at 249, Grand Hyatt Washington at 359, Hotel Hive at 219, River Inn at 229, the Homewood Suites Navy Yard card at 189, the second Homewood Suites Convention Center card at 209, and Motto Hotel at 249.
One property appears twice. Homewood Suites Washington DC / Convention Center is listed at 219 dollars with a 15 February date, and again at 209 dollars with no date. Ask which entry the programme honours before quoting either figure.
Two nights at each end
Two nights at the floor is 338 dollars before tax. Two nights at the ceiling is 738 dollars. The gap is 400 dollars across one weekend. The District applies a 15.95 percent surtax to room charges, extended through 30 September 2027, so the floor carries 53.91 dollars of surtax and the ceiling 117.71 dollars.
The ask
Quote the Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC / US Capitol at 199 dollars against any downtown card above 300 dollars. It sits on Capitol Hill, its date is 15 February, and the counter rate sits on the same page as the quote. Hold Sheraton Pentagon City at 189 dollars as the walk-away. Its 22 February date is the last deadline in the set, a week later than the 199 dollar quote.
Put three questions to the higher-priced property. Does the rate hold if the expo runs late on Friday? Does a Thursday arrival change it? Can the booking be cancelled without penalty before the published date? The programme page carries no answer to any of them.
