The block opens after the registration clears
USA Track & Field holds the 2026 Annual Meeting at the Oregon Convention Center from 3 to 6 December. The event page states that USATF has secured discounted room blocks for registered attendees at the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Convention Center and at the DoubleTree by Hilton Portland. It attaches one condition: the booking link arrives on the registration confirmation.
The FAQ states the same rule harder. Anyone who books inside the block without a registration has the room cancelled.
Two properties and no published rate
Neither the event page nor the FAQ prints a nightly rate, a room type, a cutoff date or an inclusion list. Distance is the measurable figure. Straight-line from the convention center's address at 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, read on 18 October 2026, the Hyatt Regency at 375 NE Holladay St sits 0.21 miles out and the DoubleTree at 1000 NE Multnomah St sits 0.47 miles out.
A delegate can ask both properties for a written figure before paying the registration fee, and can ask which property holds the longer block.
The registration terms carry the room risk
Registration costs $385 before 4 November at 2:59 a.m. Eastern and $435 from 4 November at 3:00 a.m. Eastern. All sales are final.
The FAQ states that a block that sells out starts a wait list held by the travel department, and that the JTeam Management booking site will carry overflow options if they become necessary. A delegate pays a fee that does not return, then competes for a room in a block that can close.
In-person registration is not available. Online registration closes on Saturday 5 December at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, and a latecomer arriving before that hour may still complete it. A current USATF membership is required to register and attend.
Extra nights sit outside the block
The FAQ allows rooms before the meeting and after it, subject to availability, and states that all additional nights are the sole financial responsibility of the attendee. The rate for those nights has no published figure, and no cancellation term travels with them on the page.
Credential pickup opens on Wednesday afternoon, 2 December, with the hours still to be published. The opening session runs Thursday 3 December at 5:00 p.m. A delegate arriving Wednesday needs that night priced, and the page leaves the figure open.
The clock the stay hangs on
Meeting hours run 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. across the four days. The closing session starts Sunday 6 December at 8:00 a.m., so a Sunday checkout carries a delegate through the last session. The venue calendar lists the meeting from 29 November to 7 December in the Oregon Ballroom, a window wider than the four published meeting days. The organiser dates are the ones to write into a booking.
Two evening events take tickets bought during registration. The Officials Hall of Fame Banquet runs Friday 4 December at 6:00 p.m. for $80. The Night of Legends runs Saturday 5 December at 6:00 p.m. for $50, with heavy hors d'oeuvres and a signature cocktail. Both keep the Saturday in use past the 5:00 p.m. close.
Transport, parking and the pass
USATF provides no transportation from PDX to the host hotels or from the hotels to the convention center. A complimentary five-day unlimited MAX Light Rail pass is issued at credential pickup, and only to registrants. The MAX takes about 30 minutes from PDX to the convention center and about 10 minutes from the convention center into downtown. TriMet lists a $2.80 adult ticket valid for 2½ hours, and rides free after $5.60 in a day.
The venue garage holds 800 spaces, charges $15 for up to 18 hours, applies a dynamic $15 to $25 rate at event entry, opens at 6:00 a.m. and prohibits overnight parking. A delegate who drives pays the event band each day and still needs a bed for each night.
What a registered delegate can put in writing
Six items, in the order that moves money. One: the nightly rate at both properties, in writing, before the registration fee is paid. Two: the nights before 3 December and after 6 December quoted at the block rate, given the FAQ line that places them outside it. Three: the cutoff date for the block and the date the rate holds to. Four: a cancellation term set against a fee that does not return, so a cancelled trip carries no room penalty on top of the registration loss. Five: the name on the reservation checked against the registration, since an unregistered occupant loses the room. Six: which property holds the reservation, and the walk that comes with it.
The published numbers a delegate can set against a quote are fixed. Registration at $385, a banquet seat at $80 and a Night of Legends seat at $50. A room at either property is the largest line in that list, and the one line with no published figure.
